OVERVIEW
FTI Construction was appointed to deliver a major upgrade and expansion of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) training facility at Kidlington. The project involved the construction of a new purpose-built building alongside comprehensive improvements to the existing facilities across the site.
APPROACH
Our team worked closely with the client to deliver a solution that met the strict operational and security requirements. The new building was carefully planned and constructed to provide modern welfare specialist training spaces, including changing rooms, shower block, a dog training area, a taser training room, and a staff mess area with kitchen. Works were phased to ensure the facility could remain operational throughout the project.
CHALLENGES
The key challenges included working within a live, secure training environment and coordinating multiple workstreams across both new build and refurbishment elements. Maintaining safety, minimising disruption, and meeting MOJ compliance standards were critical throughout the program.
OUTCOME
The project was successfully completed to a high standard, delivering a modern, fully upgraded training facility. The new and improved spaces enhance functionality, welfare, and training capability, providing the MOJ with a fit for purpose environment that supports their ongoing operational needs.
