OVERVIEW
FTI Construction was appointed to deliver a comprehensive mechanical upgrade at Kingston university. The project involved the complete removal of existing systems and the supply and installation of new mechanical and electrical infrastructure to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability.
APPROACH
The works were carefully planned and executed to minimise disruption within a live university environment. The project included the installation of new pipework, boilers, pumps, control panels, flues, electrical connections, and gas pipework. Floor painting was also completed as part of the upgrade, proving a clean, organised and compliant plant area.
CHALLENGES
Key challenges included working within an operational university setting and coordinating complex mechanical and electrical installations within existing building constraints. Maintaining safety, continuity of services, and adherence to programme timelines were critical throughout the project.
OUTCOME
The project was successfully completed, delivering modern, efficient and reliable machinal system for Kingston University. The upgraded infrastructure improves system performance, safety, and long term maintainability, supporting the university’s operational needs.
